The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to invite the community to celebrate the official ribbon cutting for Blackstone Creamery Homemade Ice Cream on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 11:00am. The celebration will take place at 22 West Street, Millbury, MA 01527, and is free and open to the public.
Formerly known as Christopher’s Homemade Ice Cream, Blackstone Creamery has entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of local Millbury residents DJ and Jenn Welch, Keith Havalotti, and his daughter, Kelsey Bergquist, who assumed ownership of the beloved ice cream shop following the retirement of longtime owners Bill, Deb, and Christopher in May 2026.
Dedicated to preserving the traditions that have made the shop a community favorite for generations, the new ownership team trained directly with the previous owners and continues to use the same homemade recipes and time-honored methods that customers have come to know and love.
“Continuing to serve this community with the same care, quality, and passion is important to all of us,” said the owners. “Having grown up right here in Millbury, we are honored to carry on the legacy that Bill, Deb, and Christopher built over the years. We’re also incredibly grateful for the support of our returning staff members, whose dedication and experience have helped make this transition possible.”
The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Blackstone Creamery to the Blackstone Valley and invites residents, local businesses, elected officials, and visitors to join in celebrating this exciting celebration. The ribbon cutting represents not only the beginning of a new chapter for the business, but also the continuation of a cherished Millbury tradition that has brought families and friends together for decades.
Whether you’re a longtime customer or visiting for the first time, everyone is invited to stop by, meet the new ownership team, and help celebrate the future of one of Millbury’s favorite local destinations.
