The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce (BVCC) is proud to host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the opening of Avvio Ristorante on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 10:30AM. The event will take place at 70 Worcester-Providence Turnpike, Suite 411, Millbury, MA, and is free to attend!

Avvio, meaning, “to begin,” is part of Newport Restaurant Group (NRG), a 100% employee-owned collection of restaurants and hospitality venues throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Inspired by midcentury Italian design, the space brings together timeless materials, bold color, and playful details, providing a fresh, stylish, and inviting backdrop for delicious food and drink. Nestled within The Shops at Blackstone Valley, Avvio offers a contemporary take on Italian-American cuisine, bringing together wood-fired dishes, housemade pastas, seasonal ingredients, Italian-inspired cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere designed for both everyday dining and special occasions.

Newport Restaurant Group’s employee-ownership model gives team members an opportunity to share in the success of the company, fostering a culture of pride, accountability, and genuine hospitality. With Avvio’s arrival, the group brings its commitment to thoughtful food and memorable guest experiences to the Blackstone Valley.

“We’re excited to bring Avvio to Central Massachusetts,” said Anthony Doherty, General Manager. “Our approach takes familiar Italian-American traditions and gives them a fresh perspective, with seasonal ingredients, thoughtful cooking, and warm hospitality. We’re looking forward to welcoming the Millbury community and giving guests a place to gather and enjoy all of life’s occasions.”

Ribbon cutting ceremonies are free and open to the community, and local business owners, community members, Chamber members, and future members are encouraged to attend and help celebrate this exciting new addition to the Blackstone Valley!
